Made-to-measure labels: direct thermal and thermal transfer labels from the manufacturer
Blumberg manufactures self-adhesive labels in freely selectable sizes, shapes and colours, either as direct thermal labels for fast receipt-style printing or as thermal transfer labels for durable identification. Matched adhesives for standard, moist and deep-freeze applications ensure that every label holds on its surface. All labels are compatible with common label printers and can be supplied pre-printed on request.
Thermal labels
Direct thermal labels carry a heat-sensitive coating that turns black under the print head. No ribbon, toner or ink is required, which makes direct thermal printing the fastest and lowest-maintenance method for receipts, shipping labels, tickets and admission passes. Because the coating reacts to light and heat, direct thermal labels suit applications that do not require permanent legibility over many years.
Thermal transfer labels
In thermal transfer printing, a ribbon transfers pigment onto the label under heat. The print is significantly more durable and resistant to light and environmental influences. That makes thermal transfer labels the first choice for barcodes, filling and best-before dates, inventory management and quality marking. Printable materials include paper as well as PE and polyester, in multiple colours on request.
Adhesives and surfaces
The adhesive determines how well a label holds. We match it to your surface and application temperature, from smooth plastic surfaces and cardboard to moist or chilled packaging. For special surfaces we also supply linerless variants.
Frequently asked questions about labels
Direct thermal labels are printed without a ribbon. That is fast and economical, but the print remains sensitive to light and heat. Thermal transfer labels are printed with a ribbon; the print is durable and resistant to environmental influences.
For shipping labels with a short lifespan, direct thermal labels are the most economical choice. For markings that must remain legible beyond delivery, thermal transfer labels are recommended.
Thermal transfer labels are the standard for best-before and filling dates because the print remains permanently legible. Blumberg supplies suitable materials and adhesives for chilled and moist packaging as well.
Dry, at room temperature and around 55% relative humidity, protected from light, heat and chemicals. This keeps the heat-sensitive coating stable.
